On 28 April 2010 former Russian cosmonaut Prof. Yuri Baturin visited Ankara University at the invitation of the University President and the the Department of Russian Language and Literature. After a meeting with the President, Prof. Baturin had lunch with the President, the Chair of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, members of the Russian Embassy and members of the university. Later that afternoon Prof. Baturin gave a talk faculty and students describing his experiences in space and the future of space exploration. After his talk Prof. Baturin took questions from the audience.

On 13 April 2010 Prof. Ayşe Dietrich gave a class to students and instructors in the Department of Russian Language at Szeged University in Hungary as a participant in the Erasmus Program. The class began with a brief discussion on the general situation of Russian language teaching in Turkey and the problems Turkish students frequently encounter in learning the language. Prof. Dietrich also gave a talk about the need for instructors to have a knowledge of Old Church Slavonic and Old Russian in order to be able to better explain to university students some of the apparently random irregularities of Modern Russian. A short question-and-answer session followed the class.
